The Goddess Magu occurs in porcelain decorations of the Kangxi period and later, during the Kangxi revival period, around the turn of the 19th to 20th century. She occurs depicted holding a ruyi sceptre, accompanied by a spotted deer pulling a cart with an attendant holding a bundle of scrolls and with (fu) bats above. Dishes of this pattern depicting the eternally young and beautiful Goddess Magu on her carriage were made for birthday celebrations wishing the owner longevity and good fortune. According to the legend, Goddess Magu lived for tens of thousands of years and had experienced the East Ocean turning into land and back into ocean three times
