A decoration which starts on the outside and continues over the rim, into the vessel. Typically a flowering branch which starts at the footrim on the outside.
From early Qing period dishes with dragons going "over the wall" becomes popular. This decoration continues throughout the Qing dynasty, with the last examples made in the Fujian area, in a porcelain more glossy then the Jingdezhen type.
From around the 1720's enamel decorated bowls with flowering branches occurs.
The dish to the right probably dating to the early 17th century of the late Ming period is the earliest recorded example I know of in this style. The single ring under the base suggests that the style at this moment was copied from Japan.
